Re: The McFly furher

>It's sad because what I prefer is not what YOU prefer? Last time I checked, taste in music was subjective, not objective based on the views of Mark L.

Mc:

Calm down, Junior. You needn't get all bent out of shape every time things get a little complex for you. I said it's sad because you told me you aren't able to appreciate the beauty of the song Now And Then. That said beauty exists is not an opinion. Beauty is beauty...some can appreciate it, some are unable to. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist just because YOU don't see it! Ha! If that were the case, it would be a empty and colorless world...

>commented on Pete's work in ROCK music, and I opined that his best ROCK music was with The Who, by far.

And if you hadn't gotten an immediate broom up your ass, you would have realized that ROCK music isn't merely loud and "rockin'" music (devil horns sign, "OZZY ROOOLS!") but in fact spans a great range of styles, from Cat Stevens to ELP to Sex Pistols ("They made you a moron...") to Echo Seven.

>creative and musically brilliant, but was more progressive/alternative.

Well, see, I guess that's just me playing by the definitions. Pete never did ANY Alternative Rock. Progressive...he did very little, solo. I suppose the two spoken songs on ATBCHCE might qualify, but that's about it. Now And Then (for example) is FAR from being Progressive or Alternative.

> I prefer hard rock, so for me, Pete's best work in ROCK was with the Who... BY FAR!

But...that's YOUR opinion of what Rock is. Every single song Pete wrote, in the band or solo, is Rock music. He's a Rock artist. So what you're doing is trying to adapt your opinion into what defines Rock music, and Chum that just ain't a-gonna play. When people have discussions about music, there are certain givens and definitions (otherwise there'd be chaos), and you can't randomly decide these things on your own, you know.

>Yes, I hate Now and Then, but not because of the meaning in the lyrics. I don't like how it SOUNDS.

And that's sad. A great Townshend song which doesn't touch you, no worse yet you actually HATE it. Extremely sad.

>allowed to say that Barbra Streisand had a great voice but her music makes me want to leap out of a window?

Are you equating Streisand to Townshend? I don't know what to say to that...I think your statement speaks for itself. Did she even write a single song?

>BTW) and Bad Company and ACDC. Is that acceptable?

You believe what you want to believe, but you don't have to live like a refugee. Or go off half-cocked angry when you think you do but actually don't understand something someone says to you. That's the problem here, you know. You leapt to conclusions, and they were wrong. Again. Yet again.

>YBYB studio is poppish, but live rocks and kicks ass, IMHO

Name the version. "Kicks ass?" Uh, yeah.

>than ALL of his solo material. Why can't you get that?

I got it. I was just making the point you seem to have missed again.

>You are an absolute ASS!

What an intelligent comeback. That'll show me! I've been put in my place now! Hoo Hah!

>Who the fuck do you think you are to condescend to me just because I enjoy sports, both watching and playing it?

Did I condescend or mention you at ALL? I merely made the general observation that Sports are fleeting and meanless in regard to civilization, and Art is a permanent contribution to civilization. I could further make the argument that Art is the only true way to judge a civilization. It was YOU, after all, who tried to compare the two. Are you trying to say that some football game is as important to civilization as, say, To Kill A Mockingbird? Feel free to name this imaginary game, since you think I'm trying to skew the argument.

Chum, you're the one with the thuggish behavior here. Not me.

>You're not artsy fartsy, you're artsy Nazi.

Me, a Nazi? You should be a bit more careful where you throw those insults, you have NO idea what you're saying. Just another knee-jerk response from Mc the dull knife. You want to watch that, you know. Do you know what happened to my family in Germany circa 1930s? No?

> My analogy is perfectly on point.

That you think so says more than anyone could about you.

>Get a clue. You missed the point entirely.

Yeah, I did. Oh, by the way, the sound you just heard was my points going over your head like the Concord.

> Let's compare those Pete albums to his BEST Who work, not his worst.

To repeat since you didn't get it the first time: I'd compare White City or Psychoderelict to Quad any time. WN, Tommy, you name it. Do try to pay attention next time before getting your panties in a wad.

I was attempting to have a rational discussion with you, giving you another chance (more than you deserve), but yet again you showed yourself to be unable to do this little thing. So be a good lad and just leave me out of your madness, won't you?
