Half a whole

>to hear your view. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to be a little
bitch. I think you understand that.

Jon:

OK, you little...never mind...

>never, nor did anyone that went with me ever see a better show than The Who, even in these so-called diminished years.

LAL vs Join Together. Or Tornoto 1982. Albert Hall. Or ANY of the Encore shows, I don't care. Point made. I've seen shows, too, you know.

>Ibash gig./ Blues to the Bush.

vs LAL. Or Fillmore East. Or Young Vic. Or the live stuff on the remixed WBN. ANY number of bootlegs. The footage on TKAA movie. Point made. You don't want to admit they've diminished? I will. I'm honest about it.

>Pete knows what it feels like to be in The Who. He said it still feels like
it when he and Roger take the stage, and I believe it.

I know what it's like to feel the magic of Santa Claus on a glorious Christmas morning, too. But that's back when I believed in Santa Claus. "Those days are over/You don't have to sell your body to the night..."

>Look, the Beatles set much more of a precedent of being broken up, AND their

Mc:

How do you figure? Broken up is broken up. BTW, Ringo made more money in his solo career than the others. And George's started strong, then went to Hell (maybe it was Kristna?). Lennon opted out when it got hard, after two great albums, a few mediocre ones, and a really bad one. Paul just made crappy Pop music his entire career, and still is. Coming Up! Need I say more?

>The Who, on the other hand, had less output over a longer period, and they never officially broke up

ANNNNNT! Wrong! Pete announced they would tour no more in 1982, except for special events, but would make albums. In 1983 he declared the band were officially broken up, no albums no tours. So he's been pretty true to what he said.

>attendance will be sparse, and then what would be the point.

Chris:

So it IS all about money, then? If they call it The Who to get higher attendance, and those extra people expect to see The Who and don't, then they'll leave with unkind words to spread about the show. What's the point of that? "I heard they were great, Aerosmith was better. Kiss was better. Hell, even Styx was better..."

I'd hate to see them become some sort of Lynyrd Skynyrd. When Pete dies, do they bring in Simon? After all, he HAS been in the band. Who's Daltrey's back up? Where does it end?

>I see a Father / Daughter activity!

Kevin:

And I thought *I* had an active fantasy life! No, sadly, Jenny's way of rebelling is to not like The Who at all in any way shape or form. She's a Beatles fan, and got mad at me when I tricked her into going to the Abbey Road show featuring Entwistle. At least she saw ONE of them live. But she still brings it up from time to time.

> No, not good enough.

OK, well I guess I won't even come for the party, then. Too bad, I thought you wanted me to. My mistake.

> There are already plans to drug your ass and drag you in.

Yeah, good luck on that one! Ha ha ha!

>NO....WE....HAVEN'T!

I thought we had.

>Just because Scott refuses to respond to my last post on the matter, doesn't mean it was settled.

No? SCOTTTT! You said...

>I hear he was spotted in downtown Akron wearing Kiss makeup.

Damn, did the temperature just drop in here?

>I'd hate for you to see Mark now in his diminished state.

Diminish THIS, you little be-otch!

>But, as he grows older, we'll just send him Depends and kick back with our memories of a Mark long past his prime.

Yeah, that must be why Mark has organized the local Punk/Goth club to do a show to register young people to vote. Started as one night, now will be two and if it keeps on like this it will be an entire weekend. That's only four days into planning. We have a slew of bands volunteering...it seems a LOT of people are dissatisfied with the current leadership and are anxious to do something about it...my my my, can you imagine that?

I guess I should just stop fooling myself. They're merely being kind to the elderly and you KNOW how cool today's Goths and Punks think their elders are...yeah...

>Growing old sucks.

So what are you saying about Pete and Roger? Who are at least ten years older than I am?

>& Robin said, "Yeah, we're in Pete's camp now. We weren't sure for a
while, but we're in his camp now."

Scott:

Gawd, I miss Stern!

> Hmmmm....is Pete starting to get cold feet?

(read: coming to his senses at last)

>The argument that "it's not the Who anymore with just
Roger and Pete" overlooks a basic truth about the Who
throughout its history. The whole was bigger than the
parts.

Ken:

Actually, I think it MAKES my point. Without all the parts, you can't have the whole. You just have a hole, where John used to be. You have half a whole at best. And I'm not even referring to Courtney Love, either.
