The possible end of the who

You know, maybe Pete could step up to the plate so to speak and announce officially that The Who is no more. I feel that this would be the classy thing to do.

Given the nature of the business, and the press/public, what is to be gained by 'going on'? No tour would be anything more that a true hits tour (2002 we hoped for new music, there were rumours of an album....) that would be panned - not only by critics, but by the loyals, who will compare the post JAE to the JAE versions (a-la the post Moonie comparisons that still rage on)

An album - again, as above - upside verses risk - better off to do a 'solo' job....where Pete's expression of pain etc is fully for and by him.

And why announce it instead of letting The Who fade away? Class. A chance to say Thanks for the support, for the ride, and to say so long.

Its time, pull the plug gracefully.

I agree. I can only see Roger wanting to do this. I see Pete
sanctioning a tour only in ideal conditions. These are not ideal.

Finishing an autobiography is really a final step. I always thought
that someone should work on their autobiography only when they were
"finished". I don't think Pete thought he was finished, so he could
keep working on this as a side project that was a few years behind his
real life. Once their career were "finished", by either chronic
illness or death, the document could be completed with the assistance
of publisher or co-author at that point.

So what is sinking in with me is that Pete is declaring he is "finished" in
a matter of speaking by wanting to complete his autobiography and
have it published.

With all due respect to Zak, I do not plan my life around what drummers
for The Who have to say! :-O

Now if Rabbit were to come forward with an opinion it might carry some
weight!
