FW: cheap tickets at the door and risk aversion

I think he's saying both

"Have you ever tried this in a city that you traveled to and booked a hotel
in?  I live 120 miles from the nearest big city and don't have the guts to
do this without a seat in my hand."

I've seen many people do this.  I've never known any of them to be left
outside the hall while the show is going on.  Personally, I don't have the
guts to do it despite what I've seen others do.

I think it is cool that two risk-averse, fairly conservative white guys like
us can really get off on the same thing :-D   I think we just have to avoid
the trap of over-analyzing (which is our part of our cultural heritage).  It
is the enemy of joy and beauty.
