Re: Moon biopic

It is tough, especially if everybody's got a different opinion on how it
should be done. Good writing is only part of the process, though, and I'd
hope they get something that the director and actors can work with. Seems
like a good cast, from what's been said about it.

It needs the music. That's Roger's advantage over other competitiors trying
to make similar movies. Roger has access to the real thing, and definitly
it should be there. First, it's a major promotion opportunity for The Who.
And second, it could make a major contribution to the movie's message. We
know this movie is going to end badly, so the trick will be to provide the
kind of spiritual uplift that we get at the end of the opera. That way we
know that Moon's legacy goes on.

I don't think the "day in the life" approach would be the best. It's likely
to be a documentary without much message, and message is everything for a
drama. I'd like to see some inquiry as to why Moon behaved like that. It
was self-destructive, certainly. Did he get a thrill every time he cheated
death? Was he acting that way out of insecurity? He couldn't believe
people loved him?

It would have to be a balancing act, I think. Too much sentimental crap,
and it will turn off guys. Too few dramatic glimpses and it will turn off
the critics. Don't they have something in the movie business called "The
Dramatic Moment?" In order to be a "good" movie, this will have to shine at
least a brief ray of light into Moon's soul.

>- "Why was the actor playing Roger taller than the actor playing John?"

Heheh. I heard Jaime Daltrey might play Roger.

Yup.

We need subtext here:

(Qpportunity knocks--what will he make of it?)

(Enjoying the fruits of success--can he handle it?)

(A waste? Or did he only live fast and burn out with blinding intensity?)

I think you'd need to touch on his marriage as well, and how he he burned
out those who loved him by needing too much.
