NPR

There were a couple of interesting items on National Public Radio this
morning. First, several of the major record companies got busted by
the FTC for "practices that restricted competition." This had to do
with requiring retailers to charge a recommended (rather than discount)
price in order to keep benefits such as use of the music for ads and
such. This meant that retailers were losing out heavily to internet
companies, and such discount(?) companies as Best Buy. The general
effect of the bust will be to lower cd prices in regular retail stores,
but it's another blow to the conventional music business.

The other item was some mention of well-known UK music groups. Usually
they forget to mention The Who, but this morning, sandwiched between
the Beatles and the Spice Girls, there were the boys.

Did anybody get the details on these?
