Have Who - will party, Jeff Beck w/Keith, The Relay, Lifehouse singles

Nick (in Salt Lake) and I had so much fun our first get-together that
we are meeting at least once a month to go over Who tidbits and share
musical enjoyment while downing a few bevvies. Apparently I have too
much Who "stuff" to go through in one evening :-). So we are going
through it bit by bit until we've heard it all, seen it all, talked
about it all, and then we'll probably start over!

Y'all know how rare it is to find another fan-atic when it comes to our
favorite band, so the two of us are like kids in a candy store when we
get together. Nick even manages to show this old fart a thing or two!
This time the musical surprise for me was a Jeff Beck song with Keith
on drums (the scream before the blast of drumbeats gave it away to Nick
when he heard it -- very Keith!). Nick knows the name, but it eludes
me at the moment; Ed Hanel's discography lists the name of the album
as 'Truth'.

This time around we spent most of it drinking brews and listening to
tunes -- a little bit of this and that smattered around from the
'unofficial recordings' and the one song I have from the catalog that
Nick doesn't own yet -- The Relay! (Its on the boxed set which
the poor laddie doesn't yet have.) This is one of my favorite songs,
but apparently it was never played live? Can anyone confirm? The
guitar sound is unique for Pete. It sounds like he is processing the
guitar in some way seems atypical as he usually uses the guitar and
the amplifier as his only 'processing' after he plucks the note or
strums the chord. (Although I note that on the Scoop series he
discusses various arrangements of processors in his experiments.)

There were 4 singles around Who's Next time that seem to be important
to Lifehouse and ironically they weren't available as anything but
singles for quite some time afterwards! They are:

    A: Won't Get Fooled Again (edited) B: I Don't Even Know Myself
A: Behind Blue Eyes B: My Wife
A: Join Together B: Baby Don't Ya Do It (live)
A: The Relay B: Wasp Man

Of those eight songs, an amazing 5 would remain unavailable except as
singles until Wholigans (1981) which included 'The Relay' and 'Join
Together'. The remainder wouldn't see the light of day on a
full-length release until Who's Missing (1985) w/'I Don't Even Know
Myself', Two's Missing (1987) w/'Wasp Man', and Rarities (? don't have
that one!) w/'Baby Don't Ya Do It'. With the exception of 'Baby Don't
Ya Do It', I believe all these songs have appeared on reissues or the
boxed set in this latest face lift to the catalog.

The bits that are important to Lifehouse seem to be 'Join Together' and
'The Relay' and of course 'Won't Get Fooled Again' and 'Behind Blue
Eyes', although I thought I heard that 'I Don't Even Know Myself' is
also part of Lifehouse. 'The Relay' -- a big interconnectedness of
humanity all relayed together through electronics, etc., -- seems
pivotal to Lifehouse, but it wasn't included on Who's Next. (A pity!)
'Join Together' -- about joining together with the band in a musical
confluence -- also seems pivotal to Lifehouse and again, a shame it
didn't end up on Who's Next.
