Blues to the Bush and StoryTellers and Stuff

Yesterday was a great day. Not only did my Blues to the Bush CDs arrive,
but Storytellers was shown on VH1 here in the UK as well.

I love the sound of the BttB CDs. Certainly the best that the Who have
sounded since mid 70's. The 2 Quad tracks are just great. But I was most
impressed with "My Generation" - I wasn't particularly looking forward to
hearing this track (as its just been so overdone now) but I was blown away.
It seems to be played much faster than before, and with more power. Dare I
say it, but is this version better than LAL? (Controversial stuff, I know).

My only small niggle with BttB is the packaging - the 2 CD cases are
identical, with only the track listings to distinguish them. A big "CD 1"
and "CD 2" on the front and spine would have nice.

Part of Matt Kent's liner notes caught my attention: "Townshend, Entwistle
and Daltrey (that's TED to you)". Made me laugh.

I was pretty pissed off with VH1 though. They've been advertising the show
for a month or so, with a start time of 11 PM. Even their Teletext page
said 11 PM. Image my horror when I turned over to VH1 at 10:55 to see that
the program had already begun! I missed the first ten minutes. Bastards.
They better repeat it soon, and show it at the right time.

As for the show itself - it was brilliant to see Pete & Co perform these
songs again, in the same style and arrangements that I saw performed at
Sadlers Wells. After the show, I remember telling you all about how
incredible BO'R is with the live violin; now do you believe me?

>That was the gal from the London Symphony Orchestra, who also played it
>at Sadlers Wells.
>LB

Actually LB, its the London Chamber Orchestra.

NB: quote from my TV guide "Cable & Wireless Cable Guide": "He (Pete) chats
about his career and performs some of the tracks that inspired his Lifeforce
multi-media project." Lifeforce???
