single/anarchy
>>a CD single of him singing with the
>>Harlem Boys Choir.
>
>Huh? Here's a collectible I haven't heard of. Label, where can we buy
one, etc. etc.?
This is a promo, not for sale, handed out at the Christmas Carol shows
with a $40 purchase of merchandise. The Christmas Carol folks sorta
implied that RD appears on the Boys Choir of Harlem Christmas album, but
right now that looks like only a come on. He's not mentioned on sales
pitches for the album. Review from another list:
>(With my music critic hat on) I'd give the single a mixed review--the
arrangement is curious. The boys and Roger alternate at first, then
sing together. They start off with smaltzy strings and these really
sweet delicate voices, so when Roger starts, his voice sounds too heavy.
They throw in some electric guitar, which also sounds very heavy, but
then the part where Roger sings with the boys is absolutely gorgeous.
Wish there were several more cuts of that.
>>but there were certainly individuals in this group who still had some
hold on reality who should have done more to prevent Keith's death. Why
they didn't is the great unanswered question of
>>this book.

>Probably because each was living their own life according to the early
mod/punk ideal of their songs...to reject arbitrary authority, to live
anyway, anyhow, anywhere, and to let others do the same.
Otherwise known as MYOB.
> I'm no fan of anarchy, but this idea that everyone should be subject
to intervention in the conduct of their life and their financial affairs
is pretty troubling.

Depends. The decision as to whether to give it a try or not really
tears people up. Remember Carol O'Connor's public statements re his
son's death and his suit against the drug dealer? O'Connor says if you
love 'em, go for it.
>>Roger might have had the right idea early on. Just beat the shit out
of him.
>
>This is just an extension of BW's suggestion of forcible intervention.
Sure. But at least RD gave it a try. You have to admit he had a basis,
too. If Keith was going to be in the band and take part in the
benefits, then he had a responsibility to meet a standard.
