Re: first Who exp.

Durring those crazy days it was common to rush the stage at a Who concert. In
1973 we had tickets for their show in St. Louis -the Quad concert. The venue
was the old Checker Dome. This place was like a huge bowl. No balconies. Our
tickets were in the last possible row. Durring the warm up band (Lynord
Skinner) we climbed our way down to the main floor. Durring this show , my
first experience of usher brutality was unfortunatly upon me. These huge
ushers were dragging, kicking and punching at any kid trying to work his or
her way toward the stage. I kept out of there way but my buddy was smacked in
the head by a chair swinging security guard. His injury was minor and we kept
just outside of the perimiter of the ushers. It was an ugly sight but
positivly inspired by the sight of an usher getting the crap kicked out of
him by about 6 concert goers.
When the lights went out for the Who's appearence, we made our move. It was
easy to get up front durring the chaos. We saw the whole shoe from a point 10
feet infront of John. The other thing that I remember of this show was that
Keith was a complete mess and Roger giving him dirty looks all nite. Pete
seemed embarassed because he had to explain some of the Quad songs to the
crowd.
