Re: books, CD's and Libertarians

Hello group,

Hope you have enjoyed the MSG shows.

Some points of interest and response:

1) I will be getting a few more copies of the redone Richard Barnes book
"Maximum R & B" back in this friday. If you need a copy please let me know.
Price is $28 plus shipping - credit cards are accepted.

2) I also have in stock the new UK only Who CD EP for "My Generation" + 3
and will be getting in the color vinyl 7" singles on friday. Please get
ahold of me if you're interested. CD is $10 and the singles $5 to $6 each
(depends on the price when they arrive from the UK).

3) Just ordered from the UK a new Pete Townshend book by Geoffrey Giuliano
called "Behind Blue Eyes". It will run 372 pages with 20 pages of color
photos. It is due out soon according to my UK supplier. Price will be $40
plus shipping (sorry - the wholesale cost is a lot higher than the Barnes
book). Please get to me if you need one so I can guarantee you a copy.

4) Libertarians - someone on the list challenged them as to what they stand
for. As an amateur historian (albeit military, but miltary and politics go
hand in hand), and being fairly well versed in American political history, I
have develpoed my own beliefs as to what government should be doing and what
the responsibility of the citizenry should also be (in this age of no one
wanting to be responsible for anything - let the government do it all).

I am a former Democrat - my wife a former Republican. We are both fed up
with the games of the two big and very corrupt parties. I idolize Jefferson
- - the last great American political thinker, and have come to embrace many of
his theories - which are also the genesis of the Libertarian philosophy.
While I do not agree with everything the Libertarian party believes in (an
unfounded belief that the corporate private sector will handle things just
fine if left unfettered - I feel they are just as corrupt as the two big
parties are and operate only for their own intrests and not the nation's), I
do agree with a lot of it.

A) government is way too big. It should build roads, defend our borders,
keep us safe from crime - and corporate scum that want to put sewage farms in
our neighborhoods, and maybe a few other things - but very few.

B) abolish the IRS. The cosumption tax is much fairer. This would ease the
burden on small business as well which would stimulate the economy.

C) pay off the Social Security system. It will be gone in ten years anyway
unless they raise the taxes so high to keep it afloat - which would kill the
economy. Who needs it now with 401K accounts, IRA's and other, much better
retirement relief. This would also free up small and large businesses from
their matching funds they have to pay - which is robbery in my book. It,
too, would stimulate the economy.

There are some others as well that I agree with. I haven't voted for a major
party candidate since 1976 - and don't plan to in November either since
Clinton and Dole are jokes at best. Folks - as Ross Perot very correctly
said in his last campaign - we're the boss, not the creeps in DC. When we
say jump they're supposed to say "how high?" Don't ever forget that.

Vote either Libertarian or Reform Party in November. If you vote for either
of the two major parties you're throwing your votes away - they will not
change and it will be the corrupt business as usual afterwards with only the
talk of change to appease the voters rather than displaying the courage to
really effect it. And courage is one word that politicians of the two major
parties truly lack an understanding of.

End of poli-sci 101 lecture. The Who (more Who content).
