2002 Hesitation Problem

Just around 1,500 miles on a new Jetta 1.8T.
Hoping to wait out any little problems until first oil change, but I may
not make it
due to one big problem.
From a stop, if I ease out into an intersection (often a requirement for
New England driving-Northshore area of MA) by accelerating slightly and
then tapping the brakes, when someone lets me out into traffic and I go to
re-accelerate--the car goes nowhere. It just sits there, leaving me
coasting out into traffic at about a mile an hour. I have to let off and
hit the accelerator again at least once to get the car to move.

Not a turbo issue at low RPM. I assume it's a chip problem. But would it
be the engine chip or the transmission chip (Tiptronic auto)? If I just
hit the gas in first gear, it's never a problem. Only when trying to ease
out, as described above.

Car seems pretty good otherwise. A bit noisy around the doors, and the
radio is quirky, but that stuff I can live with.

Plan to call dealer tomorrow (Monday), but any insight would be welcome.
