RE: Burning oil

The noise you describe sounds like mine, and when it first started, it would last
about 5-10 minutes or so, and then disappear. But now the noise is constant,
regardless of outside temperature. If it is the belt tensioner pulley, what's the
procedure to fix it? Do I have to replace that part?

And thanks to everyone who responded to my oil burning question. While some of
you think it's normal (and maybe it is?), I think that a 3 year old car with 60k
shouldn't be running hot and burning oil. I guess I'll have to take it in and
have it looked at. Grrrr!...

Come to think of it, none of my A2 Jettas burn oil either. I must live
right....

The squeak you heard is most likely the belt-tensioner pulley. Mine does it
when cool/cold outside. Kind of a medium-high pitched 'whirr' noise, for
about 5-15 minutes. Yours sound similar?
