Re: Pesky ABS light!

Also check out the speed sensor, it's like a little prong rigt over the spindle it's about 3/8 or 1/2 inch long and since it has a magnet inside, if there were any steel filings (like chips from brake pad steel plates) it will be all covered in those filings and it may take a serious brushing with some hard brush to get it all off....
Just my $.02

I'm afraid that you would have to take the whole damn thing apart, because the part I described before is like a ring that goes on the inside of the rotor arround the bearing hub hence you'll have to pull the disc off the spindle.....
Sorry man..

Okay, so from what I'm understanding I should hopefully be able to unscrew
the two bolts holding the pad carrier on to the axle stub and remove the
whole assembly without having to pull the calipers off the hub. Has anyone
actually done this before? Please please tell me I don't have to tear the
whole damned thing apart again! :-)

Thanks again!

It's a series of grooves on the inside of rotor. Don't be fooled, it looks
like a part of the hub but it's really easy to take off. When you take it
off it looks like a mesh that slides on the hub on the inside. The bad news
is thet you would have to take everything off, the wheel (of course) and
rotor.

know it was on the old

Apparently not? I must have read the Bentley too many times to catch that
step... ;-)
Where is the speed sensor?

Did you take the speed sensor off the old rotors?

So after entirely too long searching for all the sockets I needed, I
finished my rear brakes this
evening. Everything seems to have gone according to plan, except now the ABS
light is lit and the
"brake" light on the dash is lit. The car feels fine in all braking aspects;
e-brake works fine, car
stops just fine, I think I even got the bearings adjusted right believe it
or not... I made sure I
didn't go anywhere near the ABS sensor, though it may have gotten clunked
when I wasn't paying
enough attention.

Anyone out there know what I screwed up? :-)

Thanks!!!
