 but, it is more than likely that you will try this and, like the rest of
us, still have a malfunctioning cruise.  faulty cruise control seems to be
linked to a crappy stalk switch design.  so hopefully it is a centering
spring, otherwise you are stuck like the rest of us!

When you try to engage it, pull the clutch pedal up with your toes.
The over-center spring can slip off, preventing the Cruise from
latching up. (It's a safety item - don't want the cruise to pull on the
throttle with the clutch depressed.) There is a TSB for this issue.
