This isn't correct, maybe for a gear or two yes, but definately not first 
gear, and not for cars that pull peak power all the way to the rev limiter 
(not hard to do with a few simple and inexpensive mods).  A perfect example 
is in the first to second upshift ... the jump is so big, the revs drop down 
pretty far, and you need to run the car as high as possible (as close to the 
rev limiter as possible without actually hitting it) to get as much oomph 
out of second gear as possible.  The shift point is different, sometimes 
quite a bit, sometimes not so much, for each upshift, and each car.
