it won't hurt anything.  if you want it quieter try duct tape (on the
outside) or look at a junk yard.

I'm in a bit of a bind. The previous owner of my 97 JETTA VR6 decided he 
wanted to make swiss cheese out of the lower 1/2 of the stock air box. I'm 
very disappointed with this. Just curious if any listers out there have the 
lower 1/2 up for sale. Just 1 thing I would like an airbox in it's virgin 
state.
