RE: Installed European GTI Recaro Black Leather Seats [front]

David,

Will you be providing pics soon? I'm curious about the look.
I'm also curious on how you obtained these seats.

Thanks,

Subject: Installed European GTI Recaro Black Leather Seats [front]

To All,

I just finished removing my factory black leather front seats and
installed a pair of European GTI Recaro black leather seats. Actual
fitment is identical to the U.S. seats, the only difficulty I had was
with the airbag plug. The European airbag plug in the seat looks as if
it will fit into the U.S. spec wiring harness, but just won't. The plug
for the heated seats went in with no problem. On the U.S. there is a
third plug [thin and black], I suspect that this is for the idiot
seatbelt light in the dash. The European seat has no such plug dangling
from the seat.

The seats look cool with 'RECARO' boldly stitched or imprinted in to the
backrest just below the headrest. The way that the headrest slides into
the top of the backrest is wild. The side bolsters are definitely
larger and firmer than the U.S. spec seats. The thigh bolsters are
similiar in size, but the European spec seat are much firmer.
