the highest ive ever seen on my car was like 260ish, 120 degrees ambient temp, and running a/c, doing about 85 in the Mohave desert headed to Vegas. I even started to worry then. 280 woah!! the coolant temp went a tad to the right of vertical too marc 97 glx
