The Corrado was a hand-built limited-production model. Everything about it
is more expensive than any other VW ever made.

I now own a nice reliable 1999 Miata but I do miss the VR6 power. Too bad VW
abandoned the sports car model in their lineup (the GTI doesn't count in my
book; its really still a sporty hatchback, nothing what the Corrado was at
least).
