gripes (?)

i think this is a great idea...

about a week or so ago, someone asked a new VW owner (somewhat facetiously,
i think) if they had any complaints yet.  well, i'm planning on buying a
new jetta GLX within the next couple weeks, and i'd love to hear complaints
you guys have.  i'm particularly interested in what '99 and '00 owners have
to say, but i'm sure other comments could be useful, too.  of particular
interest to me would be thoughts from really tall people (i'm 6'4") who
bought new jettas.  is there still plenty of room up there?  wish maybe
you'd gotten a passat or something instead?  oh yeah, and anybody who lives
in a really hot area (i live in houston, tx) regret getting black leather
interior cos it's just too damn hot?  just curious here...

things i'd like to hear about:

1. any repairs you've had to have so far
2. strange or annoying features
3. ergonomic complaints
4. complaints about the sound system and/or dealer CD player
5. any other complaints you may have...

mine so far...

the a/c controls are too low and hard to get to...especially while trying
to drive.  the folding key rules, but it sticks out too far and hits my leg
all the time.  that's my only "spatial" concern right now.  rear visibility
isn't all that great, especially with the (pretty much useless) third
passenger headrest in the way.  back seat is small...a common complaint.  

right now i'm having trouble deciding between a jetta GLX and a passat GLS.
 i think i'd rather have the jetta, the only real complaint i have is that
it may be too small for me.  the world hates tall people.

anyway, i'm sooooo looking forward to making the purchase.  hope to be one
of "those VW people" soon, and for quite a while.
