RE: Need help on buying a 2000 Jetta
The dealer may buy it for that but they get incentives and "cash back" for
sales. being a popular car, you may not have much wiggle room. if you
don't want to lay out 23-24k, why not look for a lease turn in? a 97 or 98
GLX should be around 16-17k depending on mileage. that's a big chunk of
change. get the used car from a VW dealer and you can probably get a decent
warranty as well. personally, with the warranty VW offers and the "typical"
problems people seem to have on the lists, I question if the car is really
worth 24k. take it or leave it.

Subject: Need help on buying a 2000 Jetta
OK.. the dealer really screwed me tonight! The price of $21.5K is out the
door. Adding taxes, doc. fee and all the options I want brought the cost to
$24K. That is ridiculous!!! I used the internet to gather info on dealer
cost. Here's what I came up with:
Dealer invoice: $18,164.00 (Jetta GLS VR6)
Destination charge: $525.00
Luxury Pack (PJ3) $1,037.00 (15" rims & moonroof)
Monsoon sound: $261.00
Automatic trans: $856.00
CD changer $500.00
Doc. fee: $200.00
6% sales tax: $1292.00
Total cost: $22,835.58 <----- Can this be the true cost
the dealer buys it
for?
What the heck can I offer them? $23,000.00?????
Everyone's who's bought a new Jetta recently, PLEASE HELP!!!!! I wanted to
spend between $21-22K on this car. Is it possible or has the price on 2000
Jettas gone that high?
