RE: Gas pedal with button?

If its an automatic, that would be the "kick-down" switch, which tells the
transmission to shift to a lower gear when its floored. If its a manual, I
have no idea.

Subject: Gas pedal with button?

Hey list,

I noticed something weird lately in my Jetta. I reached over the 1K mile
mark and it was time to nail the gas full throttle to 5800 rpm's. Once the
pedal hit the floor, I felt like I hit a button under the pedal or
something.
I notice there's a button behind the metal bar where the gas pedal
connects.
As you floor it, it hits the firewall I guess? What is it there for???
