Engine Light

Hello all.  When it is rainy, my engine light comes
on.  My Jetta sputters really badly in idle and then
really chokes and coughs until I get past 3000 rpms. 
And even then, it still feels shaky.  

Once dry weather hits, the light goes away and comes
back during another rainy day.  

What gives?
