Removing gauge face plates?

Hey all,

Has anyone removed the face plates from the gauges on an A3?  Is there
something in the archives?  (Temporarily lost though they may be.)

I want to take mine out so pencilneck can make a template for the A3s.
(He does real nice ones for A1s and A2s.  http://www.4130products.com/

I have the cluster out, but the plates dont seem to be held in by screws
like the older cars...
