Don,
Don't get in a bunch.  Nothing personal.  Unless you own the "dealership" in
question or set the pricing.  If so then feel free to take it personally.
You must admit that the prices and ethics of many "dealerships" are
questionable, especially if you appear to have no actual mechanical ability
(reference the "$36 fog light lens", "$230 e-brake cables replacement (labor
only)" and "you really should replace both CV joints instead of the boots"
conversations).

Should you be one of the hard working mechanics, I have no qualms.  99% I
have spoken to are extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to give you
honest opinions and advice.

So, I believe most people who lovingly speak of their local "dealership" are
referring to the pricing, not the real workers.

ps - the light went off last night after driving about 3 miles on the
highway.  Thanks to those who said it would.

Well Marc I guess you can say I am a "stealer" because I work at the
"stealship" Some ABS codes will remain stored but will not cause the light
to stay on. Low battery voltage will be one of the codes. The ABS performs a
self test of the pump once the car is started. If there is a hydraulic
problem the light will come on. Once the car starts to move the system
checks the wheel speed sensors. A bad sensor will now cause the light to
come on. The Carcomp tool can be used to test the speed sensors as each
wheel will show a mph signal.

Normal shop time is 1 hour which in my "stealership" would be $65.00 not
$200.00

To date I have replaced very few sensors most of the time the sensor can be
cleaned and reset. We have replaced quite a few hydraulic units.

Hi all.  I am just full of ABS stuff today.  Went to get Jersey inspection
done today and when they had the car on the Dyno for the emissions test the
ABS light came on and has not gone off.  Braking feels the same (granted I
am not activating the ABS) and everything seems ok.  What gives?  Is this
normal?  Will the light reset like the Check Engine?  Can I reset the light?
Or do I have to go to the stealership now for a $200 opinion?   Thanks
