tire size question

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a happy holiday. Happy New Year.

I've been running 205-40-16's on my Jetta for the past 6 months or so. The
ride is getting to me, (darn NYC roads) cd player keeps skipping, etc. I'm
considering going to a taller sidewall. I know that 205-45-16 is the
correct +2 size but was wondering if 205-50-16 would fit and offer a
better ride. Will the "5" difference b/t the 45 and the 50 series tire be
noticable? (There is a approx. $20 diff in price per tire b/t 45/50
series, btw)

Any advice or suggestions?
