RE: Vegas Bound - Off topic

I know this reply is too late, but it may be useful for next time:

I just went to Vegas two weeks ago myself and had the following agenda:

Attending: Wife and self (kids at home with brother).
Hotel: The Bellagio => the fanciest, most upscale hotel in Vegas:
$189/night overlooking the strip and the fountain.

Agenda:

Friday

*

	Fly from PHX to LAS on Southwest: $0/person (Rapid Rewards tickets
were used)
*

	Pick up Hertz rental Car: $39/day
*

	Roller Coaster at New York, NY casino: $6/ride go early to avoid
a long line.
*

	Check in to hotel (1pm or so).
*

	Lunch at Circa Restaraunt at hotel. Decent food and great view of
the fountain: $65 (no alcohol) for two.
*

	Call from brother-in-law about hot IPO has us spend two hours going
to bank and then FedExing a check to the broker. (scary thought to be at a
bank in Las Vegas, trying to get a cashiers check for $10k (company isn't
public yet, so I don't know if the IPO was a worse bet than my time at the
craps table)).
*

	I gamble for 2 hrs, while wife takes a nap: win $200.
*

	Dinner at Sam's Restaraunt at hotel at 8pm. Decent food, but no
view: $160 (with wine) for two.
*

	I gambe for 1 hr, while wife takes another nap: win $200.
*

	Show: Sigfried and Roy at The Mirage at 11:30pm. Good show, but
these guys are old. We had front row seats, so we could see the mistakes,
but when they were on, it was amazing...I still don't know how they did some
of that stuff and I was 10 ft away! This is their last month, so see them
before they retire: $95/person.
*

	Sleep.

Saturday

*	I gamble in the morning, while wife sleeps in: lose $200
*	Checkout at noon.
*	Go to Las Vegas Hilton: Champagne brunch at the lame buffet (poor
choice...anything's better): $15 for one (wife had room service).
*	Star Trek attraction: This was time and money well spent. Expect
at least 1 hour and if you really like Star Trek, 2 hours: $16/person (i
think).
*	Return rental car.
*	Fly back to PHX

For me, I didn't get enough gambling in. My wife isn't a gambler, however,
so its was difficult to find the time. I prefer to see the late show for
any show you do want to see. Gives you a chance to have dinner before hand.
Otherwise the shows start around 8pm, and you don't get dinner. Every show
I've ever attended included two drinks. Giving the concierge a call before
your trip is the best way to arrange dinner and show reservations. They can
tell you if any special headliners are in (I was hoping a good comedian was
in town, but oh well). I gave them my top three choices they made it
happen.

The buffets are a good deal. The best I've had is at the Tropicana, but I
haven't tried The Bellagio's, which I heard is also supposed to be quite
good. Most (like the one at the Hilton) are really nothing special, except
the price.

If you bet $25/hand in blackjack (or similarly per roll in craps), ask to be
rated. A few hours of that will get you your dinner for free (and it lets
you skip the line). Longer play and/or more money per hand will net you
better meals, free rooms, and even free air fare. Normally I'd get my room
and meals free, but this trip I knew I wasn't going to clock enough time
before dinner, so I didn't bother.

Lesser betting just takes longer to get anything free. 10-12 hrs a day at
$5/hand will likely get you into the buffet for free (again, the advantage
being that you go right up to the front of the line, hand them the chit and
get seated right away).

Steve.

Subject: Vegas Bound

Hi everyone, chris collier here,

I am leaving in the morning to go to Vegas for the weekend; going to do a
little sight seeing, take in a show, little gambling, little night
light......................

Any suggestions? remember, I will be attending the city with my significant
other, so, not only are off-colored establishments not my bag of tricks, but
suggestions of that caliber will be VERY inappropriate to say the
least........................KEEP IT CLEAN

thank you for any input,

Chris Collier
