RE: Engine light on me Jetta

Same thing last winter. I had to drag the hair dryer out the first rime it
happened. Took about 15 minutes until each one released. Then don't use it
until it is fixed.

Another great VW designed obsolescence. The ebrake cable is wrapped in a
protective sleeve. At the end of the cable there is a rubber boot that is
attached to the sleeve, and allows the cable to slide through when the brake
is applied. The problem is the cable gets brake dust, etc. on it and
doesn't want to slide anymore. Rather it stretches the boot until it rips.
Now the boot acts as a little funnel, catching water and sending down
between the cable and sleeve. one nice 32 degree night and you now have a
frozen brake cable. It will be about $130 to have the dealer replace it or
$12 for the parts. (luckily I mine froze within a day of buying the car so
the dealer replaced it)

Hello Eveybody,
Has anyone had their parking brake freeze while in park? How do you get it
unstuck?

TIA,
Patrick
