97 Bentley Supplement?

Hey all,

I was attempting to work on my 97 GLX this weekend, and it looks like Bentley is
steering me wrong. The coolant temp gauge on the dash has never worked properly
in my car, sometimes it's on, most of the time it's off. I was diving in to see
if I could find where the fault is, and my Bentley manual is just wrong. I have
the 93-97 edition of the manual, which of course says it covers the 97 GLX.
However, in this particular section, the manual is showing and telling me things
that just aren't right. The thermostat housing has three "holes" for sensors to
be connected. The Bentley says that one of them is the sensor that goes to the
Motronic, one is the sensor that goes to the gauge (why they're not the same, I
can't guess), and the third is no sensor, just a plug. Well, my car has very
obviously three sensors, as all three ports have plugs with wires coming off of
them. There is also some rather confusing text in the section about which
sensor does what.

My question for the group is that I have noticed there is another edition of the
manual, with model years 93-99, replacing my book, and was there ever just a m/y
97 supplement put out? Have any of you encountered any other problems where the
manual doesn't jive with what's under the hood? I am not about to go spend
another $60 for the newer manual when the one I have says it covers my car, so
when I call the publisher, I'm hoping they'll be nice about it. If any of you
have had this issue come up, I'd like to know how you resolved it.

Thanks,
Cab
