oil burning VR6

My old GTI VR6 started burning oil when I switched to Synthetic so I
switched back to dyno juice and the problem went away.  Well just recently I
put Moble 1 in my '97 GLX and the same problem happened.  It's not like I
can see it coming out the tail pipe, but in the last 2,000 miles I have had
to put 2 qts in the car!!  What gives?  Do these VR6 engines just not like
synthetic oil?  Anyone else out there had the same experience?
