RE: to bridget reilly

And one final thing, while we're on a rant. My brother's 94 Saturn
is still running just fine, gets 30 mpg and has well over 120k miles.
Its not in perfect condition today (power windows are losing their
power and AC compressor is dead), but for the price he paid his troubles
have been reasonable, and not uncommon for any car that's spent 7 yrs
in the AZ desert.

Plus, he values having bought American and having supported our GDP.
You'll find many, many will buy American if given an opportunity (ie,
there's a reasonable American choice), and don't appreciate being told
they were idiots for making that patriotic choice.

Steve.

well said. and don't forget those pieces of !@#$ have a warranty that is
FIVE times better than our wonderful, "far superior" VW's. So when you
think about it, which ones are really the pieces of !@#$ ?

Now Bridget,

Please understand that there are people who cannot afford what some of us
might consider "nicer" cars. My parents earn a paltry pension, and can
afford no 'better' than a Hyundai. I say 'better' because frankly, I believe

that to be a judgement purely my own. For a 71-year-old, who only needs a
car in order to get from point A to point B, a Hyundai or Daewoo (like the
rental I got for three weeks in San Diego) will work wonders. And those lawn

mower engines? Sure, they're not going to beat out many cars in a sprint to
60mph, but right now with this gas crunch on, they are very friendly on my
pocketbook. They also do the trick in transporting people safely (except now

that those crash test results are out, one could safely argue against their
safety) from one place to another. Don't look down on cars that are
manufactured for those people who do not have the 'luxury' of money to burn.

God Bless,
