RE:
The web page has full instructions for looking up ECU #
and installation.
www.giacusa.com
If you have a '96-'99 A3 Jetta... then you do
not need to send in the ECU for soldering.
I have a '98 like yours and I installed mine in
30 minutes. Just pop out old, pop in new.
Garrett's chip has really made driving much more enjoyable.
Oh yeah... don't forget Gas mileage (city-24mpg highwy-32mpg).
Keep in mind that is my experience alone. I have no idea
what everyone else is getting (may be different).
I get around 30mpg with A/C on!!! The money saved on
the chip pays for chip in a short time.

Do I have to have the brain shipped out or can I just pull the chip out
and
replace?

The Garrett chip. The Neuspeed chip is like a snail compared to the
G-chip.
It's not even a discussion.

I know the list has already talked about this before but I want to be
sure
before I buy a chip for my 98 GLX. What's the one that most of you guys
have
and haven't had any problems with? Does it really make a big difference
in
performance? I was leaning towards getting a Neuspeed P-chip. Any
comments
on that particular one?
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.
