RE:Hello!

Da Doctah:

Congratulations on your new car... I just got a 99.5 GLX a few weeks ago. I
love it to death, been averaging about 800 miles/week now with it.. Did you
get the sport package with yours ?

Anyhow, I wanted to comment on the auto vs. stick. I also got an automatic,
I test drove both an AT and a 5sp twice, and I can honestly say that I the
auto seemed to accelerate much better than the 5sp. I got a lot more
takeoff, VERY FAST shifts, etc.. all over it felt more powerful..

My question is about the new torque converter they use in the auto's with
the sport package. Anyone have any info on them ? I know its some
high/low/multi something.. "turbo like" but I dont have any details.. I'd
like to find out more.

Oh, and if anyone else is interested in buying a new VR6 with a sport
package, make sure you at least drive an Auto.. just for the hell of it..

Nope. After having a stick shift and driving 45mins+ in rush hour traffice,
I'm an auto-man now. It's still zips along. I hear the latest VR6's use an
computer controlled system with the gas pedal and this makes it mildly
difficult to shift well. Not sure if the '97 has that though.
