The dealer absolutely cannot void any warranty for the K&N filter.
As I understand it, under the Magnason-Moss Act (sp?) of 1986, a
manufacturer (dealer) cannot void a warranty for a replacement part that
it does not pay for. Thus, you can install any replacement part (e.g.
air filter) that VWOA doesn't pay for, as long as the part is designed
for the car (and it doesn't even have to meet OEM specifications). The
other mods (e.g. snow screen removal) are not so absolute.
