RE: what do airbox mods do to torque?

Actually, since your intake runners are a fixed length, that is the thing
that really affects where the power/torque peaks are. Increasing airflow can
only result in increased power as long as your car can maintain fuel mixture
with the additional air.

On a car with a Mass Airflow Sensor, this isn't so hard at all. I believe
the stock VR6 injectors and MAF are good up to about 250hp without
software/hardware modifications.

My GLX pulls like a horse from 2000 rpm even. The torque peak is high
compared to the 4 cylinders, but the amount of torque is huge. A VR6 has
like 30-40 ft-lb more torque at 2000rpm that the old 4 cylinders did at
peak.
The VR6 cars are a little heavier, but are properly geared to account for
this.

Heck, I can squeal the tires shifting into second, so I know there's oomph
there.

Of course, everyone's mileage will vary. Depends alot on how you drive, what
gas you run, where you live (Denver cars are kinda slower than LA cars,
ayah?)
and what kind of roads you drive on. Down here in the south we have these
pebble surface macadam roads. They have awesome grip, but they shred the
bejesus out of your tires.

Hope this helps
