I don't know where you are, but in Canada we have a product called
automotive goop.  It is an adhesive/sealant that holds better than replacing
the 3M double sided tape.  Mine has so far held through a nasty Canuck
winter as well as a summer and all the associated weather.

AND my future father in law did me a FAVOR by gluing another part on with
some contact cement before I could get to it.  I don't think that's going
anywhere very soon.
