Sweaks

I have a 1995 Jetta GLS with 79K miles (I just purchased it as my second car 
- my first is my much loved 99 Passat GLX V6).  I have noticed that the car 
sweaks when I take off from a light, but then stops and starts again.  Has 
anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, what is the fix?

Also, I want to add a CD player to the car, but want to use the controls from 
the radio.  Do I have to use a VW unit?
