Sorry, I wasn't exactly clear in my explanation. You are correct, the
system uses a 50:50 torque split, but what I was referring to is an
innovation called ETS 4. The M-Class uses the ABS sensors to sense if a
wheel is spinning, and then applies the brake to that wheel, eliminating the
need for "lockers" or locked differentials.

Umm... to the best of my knowledge, the M-Class has a 4WD system which
distributes power in a roughly 50/50 ratio between front and rear. On the
other hand, the Infiniti QX4 has a purely AWD system that it shares with the
awesome Japan-only Skyline GTR.
