According to Bentley manual ALL VWs from '98 + have remote entry.
Ask dealer if you have to call their zone office to find out.

I just picked up my new 98 Cabrio GLS (there where 5 miles on it) but I
didn't get a remote with it.  Didn't all 98's come with remote entry?  The
dealer said no, but they also only gave me two keys (the manual said that I
was supposed to get three -- the dealers is gonna get another key made for
me).  Funny thing is, my friend who works at the dealer swears up and down
that the car has remote entry and I just want to get my facts straight
before I go in and make a big deal about it.
