Re: Power window problems.

Curt-

I had the *exact same* symptom on the *same* window of my '96 glx back in
11/98 (does anyone smell a TSB?). After taking the door panel off and
looking at the window lift, I found that the grey/black foam adhered to the
metal body panel (probably for sound deadening) had fallen off and lodged
itself such that when I tried to bring the window all the way down they
would touch and the window motor would stall out. End result, the clip
that holds the window in the rail broke. This car was never in an
accident, and came this way from the factory (Mexico?). Bottom Line:
$86.78 @ the stealer, ouch.

TRY THIS: Open your rear passenger door and use the window switch on the
door to bring the window all the way down (kiddie locks off). Grab the
window on the inside with your left hand, and the outside with your right
and try to pull the glass up....If you can, the clip is broken. If you
can't, I don't know what the problem is.

Good Luck,
Matt

Subject: Power window problems.

I am having some problems with my power windows, and I'm wondering if
anyone else has experienced the same thing and has some advice. About
three months ago, the passenger side rear window stopped functioning
completely. I tried the switch in the center console and the one on the
door for a few minutes, and it suddenly started working again. I never had
another problem until this past week, when it stopped working again. It
hasn't moved since.

When I press the switch, I can hear a clicking sound in the door, but there
is no movement. The window doesn't even work with the key in the door. Is
this a sign of a bad power window motor? I'm out of my 2/24 warranty, so I
hope it isn't.

Thanks for the help,
