Just checked on my 98 GTI, and there is not #310 relay.  Also, I could
not remember which relay controls the ABS/EDL on the later cars.  I
think it is  #191.  Try pulling it, then turning the key on.  If the ABS
light comes on, you have found the right relay.  I have also heard that
pulling this relay prevents the diff from blowing as easily in drag
racing situations.
