I wouldn't be surprised if the V5 only gets released in Europe.

Also, someone was saying that in Europe, many countries tack on an
additional gas-guzzler tax on any engine displacing over 2.0 liters.
Perhaps taking a cylinder off of the V6 is a great way to reduce
displacement from 2.8 down to 2.0 liters.

Chances are the 1.8T will be a very popular engine in VW/Audi designs in
Europe, and just because they make them in volume, they may make them
popular options in the US too.

We'll see for sure when the release date gets a little closer.
