I agree with you. In addition, I feel the best place under the rear deck is
to the far far left, leaving your 60% retractable seat with the most
maximum exposure. Mounting to the right side of the car reduces clearance
by a couple inches in your widest cargo area-- an advantage many people
will seldom see, but one nonetheless.
