I had a '93 Grand Am SE. Rear defroster (we call 'em a de-frog-ger, as in
defrost and defog combined) was a push button. Push it, light goes on.
Ten minutes later, there's a click, it turns off, lights goes out.
Not so on my '95 GLX. Push it - it goes "in," light turns on. Ten
minutes, fifteen minutes,. half an hour later it's still "in" and lit.
And the rear window is still froggy. It sucks. Maybe the element is gone
- but I don't want to buy a new rear window just to have the defrogger
work. I don't know if this helps you any, except for the added info on
how other Jettas seem to work. Hmmm. *gets out the Bentley*
Not a damned thing. Just how to remove the button. Check your manual.
Maybe it says something like, "Self-timing rear window refroster" or some
rot. Sorry I couldn't find anything.
