RE: Brake Upgrades

After lurking for some time on both 911 and BMW lists, I would recommend
either smooth or slotted rotors. The opinion on those lists was that the
vast majority of the cross drilled ones act like cheese graters on the pads
and will eventually crack around the holes (though they do look cool).
Slotted rotors evidently don't wear any faster than stock ones, and the
slots can act as wear indicators (when the slots are gone, the rotor is
worn).

Turning rotors on cars like ours just further reduces the thickness of the
rotor and leads to quick warping & subsequent replacement.

Good - stock rotors with a good pad (pads is where opinions seem to vary the
greatest)
Better - properly slotted rotors (allows the gasses to escape)
Best looks, shortest lifetime - cross drilled

Disclaimer - This is my regurgitation/memory of discussions on other lists.
I have yet to experiment with either slotted or cross-drilled.
