I'm sure you know that the Jetta has a 2 speed fan and yes something can run
hot but that's why you have a temperature gauge in the car. As long as it's
running near it's normal position on the temp gauge I wouldn't worry.  But
on the other hand if you notice that the fan starts running alot especially
now that cooler weather is upon us I would then get it checked out by a
qualified VW technician, right Don?  If your mechanically inclined like me 
just take out the thermostat and replace it. BTW on the VR6 that's not to
easy so I would say approach this with caution unless your familiar with VW
engines.
