the answer to why they do it is because they CAN!!!  They make their cars
incompatible with most everything so that they can profit not only on the cars
themselves, but tenfold on their accessories or even tools to work on the damn
thing...which is good planning on their part from an economical standpoint,
but it's never sucked so bad to be a consumer.
