Loose Steering on 98 GLX

I have a 98 Jetta GLX  which I just purchased.  I have noticed that on
the highway at high speeds the car seems to drift alot.  It is difficult
to track a straight line. It seems that the steering has too much play
in it. It takes alot turn to initiate a change of direction.  This is
markedly different than the 95 Jetta GLX I have owned previously.  Any
comments on this?  Are there any adjustments that can be made to tighten
up the steering?
