VR6 Oil consumption -Reply

Hey Andy

I went through the exercise of "oil consumption testing" with a
VW service about a year ago.  At a time, I suspected unusually
high consumption and wanted to make sure it's documented
under 2 yr./24,000 mile warranty.  No leaks, no drips.

The test seemed to be somewhat of a joke - they overfilled the
engine with oil (slightly above max line on dipstick).  I asked
about that, they said, "Oh, that's within the specifications." 
Whatever.  Then, they performed 3 "special oil level checkups"
every 750 miles.  So, about 2,200 miles later, they said : ALL
OK.

So, I learned to live with it - about 1 quart every 2,500 miles
(approximately, I don't really try to keep track of it).
